I do not use folders. I do not use tags. I do not use FrontMatter.
My system is based on a very simple idea: I write notes as they come, with natural titles, and I use links to connect whatever is related.
When a topic grows large enough, I create a manual index note where I group related notes together. I call this a Map of Content (MoC), but only when it emerges naturally. Nothing is mandatory.
All notes live together in a single place: the Cheese Cave. I do not try to classify them in advance. If at some point I start noticing many notes around the same topic, then, and only then, I may consider adding a a new MoC.
What I do not do is force a structure on myself before I know whether I actually need it. I prefer to let the organization emerge. The (link graph)[/cave-graph] is my compass. The connections show me how I think.
Key InsightI organize by writing, not by planning.
